A father is appealing for information after his son's bike was stolen outside their home in broad daylight.

His son had only stepped in for a quick cup of tea and a chat when the Specialized Epic 2007/2008 black bike was stolen from  Liverpool Road South, Burscough on Sunday afternoon, August 3.

The family, who did not wish to be named, couldn't believed that the bike had been taken so fast.

The father said: "It was locked securely to the car, my son had just been mountain biking.

"A neighbour told me that she saw two young males on a motor bike wearing helmets - one blue and one white - by the car.

"It happened at about 5pm, the lock was forced and one of them rode off on the bike whilst the other left on the motor bike.

"We have told the police and we are hoping to get the bike back as my son has paid over £1,000 adding special parts to it."

The bike has been fitted with Dt Swiss Wheels with Nukeproof hubs, Maxxis Advantage Tyres, Fox Vanilla Forks, Avid Juicy Brakes, a reverb dropper seat post and Easton handlebars.

Anyone with any information should contact the Lancashire Police on 101 of call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
