Rock The Lakes music festival heading for Mere Brow

Huge line up of bands will entertain the crowds at the Leisure Lakes

After the roaring success of Rock The Lakes 2013, organisers are gearing up for another great event.

Mike Blundell, the festival organiser, has been scouring the country looking for bands to appear, even spending three days down in Great Yarmouth at Legends of Rock to check the quality of bands available.

This year’s festival starts today (Friday, August 15) at 6pm. Opening the event this year are 5th Element who will be covering tracks from the likes of AC/DC, The Cult and Muse to name a few.

Popular local band Fag Ash Lil, who have appeared at every year of the festival, will be playing this Saturday along with many more acts. Music runs from noon until midnight on both days.

Mike said: “We’re really excited for this year’s event; the line-up is looking really special and we can’t wait.

“Last year was amazing and we’re hoping this year will be even better.

“It’s really an event for all ages, we’ve had four-week old babies up to 90-year-olds and everyone really enjoys it.”

This year organisers have developed an android mobile phone app that people can download to get line-up details.

Event memorabilia will also be available to buy for the first time ever.

Mike said: “We’re hoping it’s going to be a great three days of music, with a great atmosphere and great people.”

Festival-goers are able to pitch their tent at the Leisure Lakes in Mere Brow from Thursday morning onwards.

Tickets for the event cost £45 and are available via the website at  www.rockthelakes.co.uk
