A search for three youths had begun after a man was threatened and told to get off his bike.

Officers from the Lancashire Constabulary are now appealing for information after the attempted robbery on Sunday afternoon, August 17 in Skelmersdale.

At 4:20pm in the afternoon, a 49-year-old local man was cycling towards the footbridge from Ormskirk Road, Digmoor towards Tawd Road, Tanhouse.

Three youths loitering on the Tawd Road side of the footbridge have threatened him, demanding he get off his bike.

The man has refused to stop and continued cycling and the offenders have then fled in an unknown direction.

DC Terry McKibbin from South CID said: "We think that these youths were intending to steal this man’s bike by intimidating him.

"He has been left understandably shaken by the incident and so I ask anyone who may have seen those matching the description of the offenders or who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch with us."

The offenders are each described as being around 15 years old, white and male.

One is thought to be slim, tanned and was wearing a black thigh length waterproof jacket and grey tracksuit bottoms.

A second boy was wearing a white hooded top and a striped ski mask covering part of his face.

The third boy is believed to be slim and was wearing a blue waist length waterproof coat, a blue baseball hat with a grey peak and black bottoms.
