Appeal made by police after motorcyclist killed in Bickerstaffe crash

Police are appealing for information after a road accident in Bickerstaffe in which a 49-year-old motorcyclist died.

The accident happened at around 8.30am on Monday 29 July when a motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a car near to the Blue Elephant pub on the Rainford bypass.

The black Kawasaki motorcycle is believed to have collided with a Renault Scenic as the car was turning right across a gap in the central reserve.

The motorcyclist, who has been named as David Thomas Clarke-Frear, sadly passed away at the scene.

Senior Investigating Officer, Sergeant Mick Young of the South Road Policing Unit, said: “I would appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision to get in touch and anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number LC-20140728-0263.

“A police family liaison officer is supporting David’s family at this difficult time.”
