A West Lancashire College student has recently landed a job at the NHS as a Rehabilitation Co-Therapist.
Katie Toole, 22 from Skelmersdale has recently completed her Foundation Degree in Sports and Exercise Therapies at West Lancashire College and goes into employment with the NHS in Warrington.
The previous Glenburn Sports College student said: “I was so excited to be offered the job as I know it’s a tough industry to get into which makes me even more pleased to have been offered the role.”
As part of her job with the NHS, Katie will work with patients who have a range of injuries, from sports injuries to loss of limbs and brain injuries.
Katie continued: “Without College I wouldn’t have got my job. I really enjoyed my time at College. I’ve made some close friends and enjoyed the time I’ve spent on placements. It’s through my work experience placements that I’ve worked my way up to Head Physiotherapist at Remyca Football Club. The tutors encouraged us to undertake work placements and the students run an evening sports clinic at Skelmersdale Campus to help us gain experience. Working in the clinic has been invaluable and has given me the experience to apply for jobs in the industry.”
“Staying local to study for my Degree has worked for me. The tuition fees are nearly half of other universities and I don’t have to pay for travel or accommodation and working in smaller groups has meant I’ve had the support I’ve needed.”
