Supermarket staff raise £1,155 for Cancer Research


Fundraisers at Morrisons, Ormskirk.

THE staff at Morrisons in Ormskirk came together and have raised an amazing £1,155 on a single day shift by bag packing for customers at the check outs.

As one staff member is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, and another member is recovering from cancer, everyone was eager to raise as much money as possible to help the fight against this disease.

The staff want to say a big thank you to the customers for donating who were all very generous - the reaction was so positive as the customers know the staff really well!

Jane Anglesea, the manager at Morrisons Ormskirk said: "All the staff here were amazing, and even came in on their day off to come and support us."

Matt Unsworth, manager at Cancer Research UK Ormskirk added: "On behalf of Cancer Research UK I would like to say a huge thank you, and I was astonished at how much money was raised in just seven hours! It's the spirit and dedication shown here that takes us one step closer to beating cancer."
