New look for Ormskirk charity shop

Burscough Street's Cancer Research UK due for refurbishment

Matt Unsworth, manager of Burscough Street's Cancer Research UK shop

The Cancer Research UK shop on Burscough Street in Ormskirk is undergoing a facelift. The store will unveil its new look on Saturday, September 20. The changes are designed to give the shop a fresh new look, provide better shopping experience for customers, and attract more funds for the charity.

Shop manager Matt Unsworth said: “It’s an exciting time for our store. Our new look won’t cost much, but it will hopefully help raise our profile, and extend our role in the community. I’ve been with Cancer Research UK for three years and this is a great time to be working for such an amazing charity. Since the store opened in October 2000, we have raised more than £1.2 million.”

Matt and the team are sure that the new look will raise even more funds for ground breaking research.

He added: “It will be a fresh start for the shop and everyone involved, and we are encouraging more people to pop in store to become volunteers and help with our brand new image. Our twin shop on Aughton Street have benefited immensely from their refit in March”.

The shop will close down for a week leading up to the relaunch, but the team will still accept donations from the public.

This October, Stand Up To Cancer returns to our screens on Channel 4, and the team are looking for unique individuals to help raise as much money as they can for the event. Anyone who is interested can contact the store on 01695 574137.
