An entrepreneur has spoken of her success as American supermarkets prepare to release her peanut flavoured hot drink.
Lisa Gawthorne, originally from Ormskirk, first introduced peanut hottie in Sainsburys, Booths and Waitrose last year.
And now, after a meeting in January, supermarket giant Wal-Mart America will launch the drink in more than 2,000 stores across the States.
Lisa returned from the Fancy Food Show in New York, which took place at the end of June, and said that her stand was packed out with curious buyers.
She said: “It was the first public exhibition of peanut hottie and it was absolutely unbelievable.
“There were people queuing up at the booth. Many booths had flavour extensions on things like crisps but ours was a completely original product.”
Lisa said that the product received a lot of interest from buyers from Japan and Mexico, but she intends to focus her efforts on America and Canada.
At the international festival business, in Liverpool, Lisa said that she also secured sales interest from Holland, Ireland, Germany and Spain, which she hopes will become working partnerships from early next year.
The product will also be stocked in Tesco supermarkets in the UK from September.
Lisa first developed the concept of Peanut Hottie with her business partner Karl Morris.
She said: “It’s funny how I came up with the idea, it was such a simple situation.
“I’d gotten in from a late gym session and I just had a spoonful of peanut butter with a cup of tea.
“It was an amazing taste. I had a look online to see if there were any peanut butter drinks and there was nothing at all.
“Within a few minutes I’d thought it all through and literally a week later we started making our own versions in the kitchen.”
The product has also received rave reviews on social media sites, with fans posting positive feedback on the peanut hottie twitter page.
@wearecrave tweeted: “@PeanutHottie When I found you...my life was complete!”
