Police appeal for information after man shot in Skelmersdale

Officers are appealing for information after a man was shot in Skelmersdale last Friday night.

The victim, a 22-year-old local man left the Tanner Pub on Elmridge Road at around 11:30pm along with two friends.

The three men were approached by two other men on bicycles, who were then chased by the three men who had left the pub, into the pedestrian subway along the path between Aaron Crest Care Home and the Tanner Pub.

At that point a group of around six or seven youths dressed in dark clothing with hoods up and faces covered confronted the three men.

Shots were then fired and one of the three men was injured.

Det Insp Warren Atkinson said: “We would like to reassure the public that we believe both parties are known to each other and this was not a random attack. No other members of the public were in the area at the time of the shooting.

“This investigation is being led by a dedicated team of detectives based in Skelmersdale and we are doing all we can to identify those responsible and remove the weapon that was used off the streets.
