"Return our stolen turtle" - says angry pet shop owner

Steve Imison fears that without proper care the baby Map Turtle could die

A baby map turtle has been stolen from the Animal Antics Pet Shop in Ormskirk

A pet shop owner is urging the thief who stole a baby Map Turtle from his shop on Burscough Street in Ormskirk to bring it back.

Steve Imison from Animal Antics has expressed his deep concern for the wellbeing of the tiny reptile because it could die if it is not cared for.

He said: “Map Turtles need specialist care; without that they could grow a deformed shell or die.

“When someone buys an animal from our shop, we give them all the support and information they need to care for them.

“I am very worried that this turtle has been sold on the street to someone who does not know how to look after it. I would ask them to return the turtle.”

This is not the first time people have stolen from the pet shop.

Steve said: “We had one woman come in wearing a big coat and put guinea pigs in her pockets.

“We think we recognise the man who has done this and will be informing the police.”

If you have information, call Steve on 01695 579827 or the Lancashire Police on 101.
