Police are searching for two thugs who subjected a woman to a terrifying ordeal in her own home.
The 46-year-old woman was asleep in bed at her house in Daniels Lane, Skelmersdale on April 19 when she heard a noise at around 4am.
The thieves broke in through the back door and then made their way upstairs looking for loot.
The woman woke up to find one of them in her bedroom, wearing dark clothing, gloves and a scarf.
The robber was holding a knife and demanded that the terrified victim hand over her car key.
She immediately handed over her car key and her iPhone, but her attackers continued her ordeal by cutting the internal phone line.
They then tied her up and left her on the living room sofa before ransacking the house and stealing further valuable items, including an iPad and her house keys.
After they had searched the whole house they escaped in the victim’s car – a white Citroen DS3.
Once they had left the victim struggled to free herself and managed to get to her neighbour’s house to phone the police for help.
DC Paul Mulrooney said: “This is a very distressing incident for the woman involved and we’re doing everything we can to find those responsible.
“There have been no arrests as of yet and the investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
“We have recovered the stolen car in the Merseyside area and are following up leads accordingly. If anyone does have any information about this crime that could help with our investigation I would urge them to get in touch.”
