Police are hunting thieves who burgled a pensioner as he slept.
Officers are appealing for information after the 82-year-old man was targeted during the night at his home in Skelmersdale.
The burglary took place sometime between 11.30pm on Monday March 10 and 8.50am the following morning, at the victim’s bungalow on Clayton Street.
The thug forced the locked back door and stole cash from a cupboard before entering the victim’s bedroom. Once inside he stole the pensioner’s wallet from his trouser pocket hanging on a chair at the side of the bed.
Around £135 was taken in total, including the victim’s bank card.
PC Suzanne Yates said: “The victim is an 82 year old man who has been left very distressed by the incident, particularly as the offender entered his bedroom whilst he was asleep.
“This is a despicable crime, particularly as his home has clearly been deliberately targeted due to his age and vulnerability. I would appeal to anybody that has any information that could assist us to contact me on 101.”
