Social media guru Sarah Harrison hopes to help local businesses

Love Lancashire initiative launched

A social media guru is celebrating her initiative’s second birthday by expanding.

Sarah Harrison, 32, set up her consultancy business Lily Jones several years ago to help local businesses market themselves better on social media.

Based on her experiences with companies across the North West Sarah also decided to set up a free initiative called Love Lancashire.

Sarah said: “I wanted to give something back to the community, I come from Tarleton originally so would often go to Ormskirk and Southport which used to be very busy towns.

“There’s so many empty shops these days though and business is really tough so I wanted to do something to help.

“I set up Love Lancashire two years ago to help businesses get their name out there and we now have over 5,000 followers on Twitter.

“We have an hour at 6pm on a Tuesday where businesses can use our Facebook page to interact with each other, we call it ladder time and it’s really popular.

“On Twitter people can also use the #lovelancashire hashtag and we’ll retweet them to our followers.”

The initiative proved so popular that Sarah soon set up a Love Burscough and Love Southport page as well.

To celebrate the projects second birthday Sarah and her team have recently released a Love Merseyside page.

Sarah said: “Social media is the future and it can really help businesses when they come together to support each other on it.

“We’ve helped lots of businesses from solicitors to shoe shops

“Everyone wants to see increased footfall and this is one tool that businesses can use.

“Ideally I’d love the initiative to spread and go nationwide, we’ve already got plans to do a Love Cumbria and a Love Yorkshire so it’s very exciting.”
