Maureen McKenna, 59, of Fairlie, Skelmersdale was jailed for three months for stealing her neighbours newly laid turf

A 59-year-old woman was jailed for three month for the theft of a newly-laid front lawn.

Maureen McKenna, of Fairlie, Skelmersdale was arrested on Thursday by Lancashire Police and charged with theft.

She appeared before Ormskirk Magistrates Court..

Video footage of the alleged incident at The Mount, Skelmersdale, on July 24 in the early hours of the morning was captured by neighbour Bobby Stacey who later supplied the footage to police.

A second, younger woman who can be seen dragging up armfuls of turf and fleeing down the street, is yet to be identified by police.

"Police are still carrying on with inquiries to identify the other person," a spokeswoman for Lancashire Police told the ECHO.
