A TEENAGER who threatened a six-year-old girl with a screwdriver has been given an anti- social behaviour order (ASBO).

Lee Martin Fyles, 16, of Lea Crescent, Ormskirk, has been banned from the area around Ormskirk Rugby Union Club, bounded by Green Lane, County Road, and part of Southport Road.

He has also been banned from carrying paints, paintbrushes, ink pens or other writing equipment other than a pencil in a public place.

Fyles is also barred from walking down Lea Crescent from his house to the junction with Whittle Drive, including the alleyway which goes down to Yew Tree Drive.

This ban on his movements will be in place until 5pm on October 2, 2012. He will also be under a curfew prohibiting him from leaving home between 8.30pm to 7am until October 2, 2010.

His list of 13 offences includes:

Stealing a bicycle from a garden on ParkerCrescent

Threatening a resident he would rip a camera off a wall

Spraying graffiti on a building and a wall at Ormskirk Rugby Club

Setting off a firework in a garden on Lea Crescent when a two-year-old girl was standing nearby

Lee Fyles’ offences, as found proved by the court, include threatening a six-year-old girl with a screwdriver on Sephton Drive, Ormskirk on August 8, 2005.

Lee Gardner, prosecuting at Ormskirk Magistrates Court on behalf of West Lancashire District Council, said the council wanted the ASBO to last five years.

“The minimum length of an ASBO is two years. Fyles signed an acceptable behaviour contract in August, 2005, and the incidents date back to November, 2004. Two years will not be enough for him to change.”

Defence solicitor Janice Lloyd said: “His record is not the worst you have seen before you, so is five years necessary, particularly as he is at a critical point in his development?”

Fyles was also banned from engaging in offensive, threatening, unruly or intimidating behaviour either alone or with others, whether by himself or inciting, instructing encouraging any other person.
