Psychic medium Joe Power and psychological illusionist Derren Brown

THE psychological illusionist Derren Brown made a special appearance at the Beaufort Hotel in Burscough.

Derren joined psychic medium Joe Power at his Evening of Clairvoyance which was being filmed for a Channel 4 documentary.

Joe and Derren are taking part in the programme together and Derren was there to observe Joe as he got in touch with the spirit world.

Derren describes his craft as a mixture of magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship and has enjoyed TV success with shows including Trick of the Mind and Russian Roulette.

The exact details of this new show are still under wraps but the pair have been seen on the streets of Southport and Liverpool giving people readings.

More than 200 people came to see Joe, who is originally from Skelmersdale and lives in Ormskirk.

During the show, Joe interacted with people by delivering messages from the spirit world to friends and family members in the audience.

He also gave people the opportunity to ask him questions regarding the spirit world.

Joe, known for his psychic abilities, has appeared on numerous television and radio shows including his own show on Living TV.

Last year, he featured in the national newspapers after claiming he knew the whereabouts of missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews nearly a week before the police found her.
