Pupils from Mount Carmel High School in Aughton help bring new chicks into the world
MOUNT Carmel pupils have been counting their chickens before they hatched as the school received a delivery of eggs.
The Aughton Park Drive school got the eggs as part of a project it is doing on spring. The children have been learning all sorts about the chickens, such as how they live and how they should be fed.
Headteacher, Anne Eckersley, said: “The children were able to watch as 10 of the eggs hatched into little chicks.
“We have also used the spring theme in English, maths and science lessons and the children have really enjoyed it.”
Some of the children even got a nice surprise when they were set a very special homework task.
Anne added: “The families of three of the children have taken the chicks home with them and have been looking after them in their gardens.”
