Burscough man demands MOD end delay on his daughter’s inquest

A GRIEVING father is angry that the inquest into his soldier daughter's death has still not been held.

Corporal Sarah Bryant, originally from Burscough, was killed in Afghanistan when the Land Rover she was in struck a landmine on June 17 last year.

Her father, Des Feely, said: “Unbelievably it is now a year since Sarah was killed, yet we have to hear the full details.

“I believe the Ministry is delaying the inquest.

“We believe the vehicle was poorly armoured and not fit for purpose.’’

Sarah’s name was added to the Burscough war memorial in time for last Remembrance Sunday. Married father-of-two, Paul Stout, 31, from south Liverpool, also died in the blast.

An MoD spokesman said: “It’s not the responsibility of the MoD to set the date for inquests.

“We would not be able to delay it.’’
