LEISURE Lakes has won its appeal to allow motorbikes to be used on the site in Mere Brow.
The enforcement notice has been quashed and the permission from the council comes with various conditions including the provision of car parking at the site and specific times when the bikes will be able to race.
The site should be used only for motorbikes, quad bikes, 4x4 buggies, 4x4 road vehicles and motorcross training bikes.
However, Leisure Lakes lost their appeal to allow land to be used for storage and caravans for war games and re-enactments by the Phoenix Rebels Western group.
Owner Philip Whitter said: “The Phoenix Rebels don’t do any harm. They create a lot of money for local charities. It is a shame that we lost the appeal.”
The Phoenix Rebels started nine years ago as the Riverside Rebels and are based at Leisure Lakes.
Rebels chairman Fred Jorden, 62, runs the Western Frontier pub at Leisure Lakes.
