Ormskirk Library set to re-open on Monday, July 6 after refurbishment

ORMSKIRK Library on Burscough Street, Ormskirk is set to reopen following a major refurbishment to transform services available to library users and the local community.

On Monday, 6 July, Ormskirk Library will open its doors to the public following £290,000 revamp to modernise and improve facilities as part of Lancashire County Council's Library Regenerate Programme.

The programme aims to create modern, attractive and flexible spaces from which staff can deliver the wide range of services, traditional and new, which meet the needs and expectations of local communities across the county.

The new look library has been designed to provide a light, spacious and open surroundings with mobile shelving to create flexible community spaces, comfortable seating and the installation of a plasma screen providing information on a range of library services and community information.

A new work area for 30 People's Network terminals and free wireless internet access has been developed along with a computer training area where people can develop their skills in a comfortable environment.

A quiet study area, family and community history section, and a young people zone have also been created to ensure using the library is an enjoyable experience for both young and old alike.
