Maghull and Aughton Rotary Club celebrate their charter dinner at Hurlston Hall Golf Club

THE Maghull and Aughton Rotary Club celebrated their 31st Charter dinner this month, as they prepared for their charity fund raising Christmas float.

John Sharman, head of public relations at the club, was in good spirits ahead of the three-week period of feverish fundraising for local charities.

This starts next months and during that period members will be out knocking on doors asking people to dig deep and donate money to worth causes.

He said club members are regarded as valued individuals, whose dedication and volunteer work is appreciated by the wider community.

At their Charter Dinner celebrations, Peter Slack, a Derbyshire farmer, was the guest speaker, whose theme for the evening was, 'I am not lost, but I don't where I am'.

All the guests who came along to the event enjoyed the meal, which took place at Hurlston Hall Golf Club.

Cllr Una Atherley, chairman of Aughton Parish Council, was among those who attended the event.
