Trust fund in memory of Edge Hill University car crash girl

A TRUST fund has been set up by Edge Hill University in memory of student Dominique Williams who died in a car crash.

Dominique, known as Dom, was 20 when she died on her way to Creamfields music festival on August 29 last year.

The car she was travelling in flipped and hit a lamp post. She was killed instantly.

Her mum Lesley, dad Phil, brothers Liam, 18, Danny, 15, from Maghull and many of Dom’s friends were left heartbroken by the tragedy.

Dominique was studying a Dance and Performing Arts course when she died. She would have graduated this year.

Mum Lesley told the Advertiser: “Dom was the centre of our world – always singing, always dancing, always with her family, always with her friends. I have no idea how she managed to fit everything in.

“She was a remarkable girl and I just can’t believe she isn’t here anymore. I still think she will walk in the door.

“I am incredibly touched that the university has taken it upon themselves to set up this trust fund and start a charity in her name.

“It will help children who want to dance and perform. It was what she wanted to do and she planned to open her own dance studio. It will keep her memory going.”

All the money raised will be used to help children and young people to develop through the arts and to create opportunities.

The university has also created the Dominique Williams garden of reflection opposite the dance studio which will host a tribute dance show in March.

Her uncle, Skelmersdale psychic Joe Power, hopes to raise more than £1,000 with a psychic night and her friends have organised a tribute night and aim to raise £2,000.
