FORMER West Lancashire Council labour Group leader Cllr Terry Rice passed away suddenly at his home in Up Holland last Wednesday aged 62.
He served as a Labour councillor for Up Holland on West Lancashire Borough Council for 20 years from 1990 to 2010.Š
During this lengthy service Terry was also deputy leader of the Labour Group and during the Labour administration Terry was Finance Portfolio holder.
Terry was a great family man and Šspent 36 years as a secondary school science teacher and head of year before retiring in 2005.
He Šalso served for many years on Up Holland Parish Council.
Besides his family and politics, Terry’s other passions were supporting Everton and in recent years he enjoyed holidaying in France with Ann.
Friends and colleagues have contacted the Advertiser to pay tribute to Terry.
West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said: “It was a great shock to hear the sad news that Terry had passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with Ann and the family at this very difficult time. Terry served his community and the people of West Lancashire with great distinction for 20 years. He was always adamant though that Up Holland was God’s own country.
