West Lancashire town crier Don Evans meets Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall on board the Queen Victoria
WEST Lancashire’s town crier Don Evans had the great honour of meeting and greeting the passengers of Cunard’s luxury liner the Queen Victoria.
Special guest Camilla, HRH Duchess of Cornwall was at Liverpool’s cruise liner terminal to see the 90,000-tonne ship which came into the port on Monday.
Queen Victoria, which is the second largest Cunard ship ever built, is on a historic UK tour.
Her trip round the British Isles is to mark the 170th anniversary this month of the first vessel to leave Liverpool – Cunard’s spiritual home – in 1840.
Don was called up especially and even got to meet Camilla.
Don said: “Camilla approached me and said I looked smart and asked me what I was doing.
“I explained and she shook my hand and told me I was doing a fine job and to ‘carry on’.”
