Lathom man’s skydive to help African communities in need to clean drinking water

A LATHOM man with a fear of heights will plunge 14,000 feet from a plane to help more Africans enjoy clean drinking water.

David Phillipson will take part in the skydive on April 8 to raise more than £1,000 for the One Foundation, which builds unique Playpumps that provide clean drinking water to communities across Africa.

David, 26, lives on Hall Lane in Lathom and found out about the One Foundation through his job at the Esquires Coffee House in Southport.

David said: “I’m really nervous about making the jump but, with so many good causes to support nowadays, I knew I’d have to do something a little more challenging. Our customers and Esquires Coffee House team have been really generous and with their donations I’ve already raised £200. However, I still have a long way to go.

“ I’ve developed a real respect for the One Foundation and the life-changing work it carries out in African communities.

“Access to clean drinking water is something we so often taken for granted.”
