Michael Owen and Amir Khan back former Burscough FC keeper’s debut novel

A FORMER Burscough FC footballer who has written a novel set in Ormskirk and the surrounding area is enjoying rave reviews for his debut book.

Calvin Wade released Forever is Over in paperback last April and the novel has now received more than 100 five star reviews.

He has even received support from international sporting stars Michael Owen and Amir Khan.

The novel begins with the cancer-suffering protagonist in his 30s before going back through his past and revealing a “love triangle focusing on life, love and precious time”.

Self published through AuthorHouse, Forever is Over sold 100 copies in its first week alone.

Since being made available on Kindle late last year sales have rocketed above 1,300.

Of the 113 reviews on website Amazon, 112 give the book five stars out of five. The only other review gave Forever is Over four stars.

Father of two Calvin is delighted with the book’s growing reputation.

The 41-year-old, who grew up in Ormskirk but now lives in Chorley, said: “I anticipated it would sell because I felt like it was a good story and there would be a good audience in the 25-40 age group. What I didn’t anticipate was younger and older people enjoying it and getting the five star ratings as well, so that’s been very flattering and I’m absolutely delighted about that.”

Calvin has been a keen fan of using social networking sites to boost his profile and has received support from footballer Michael Owen, boxers Amir Khan and Paul Smith Jnr and comedian Les Dennis on Twitter.
