Burscough Action Group launch new petition in battle to stop 850 homes bwing built in village

RESIDENTS campaigning against proposals for hundreds of homes to be built in Burscough have launched a new petition.

West Lancashire Council’s draft local plan proposes to build 4,650 new homes across West Lancashire by 2027.

A total of 850 of these have been suggested for Burscough, including 500 on land off Higgins Lane.

Burscough mum Gill Bjork started a petition against the proposals last year which was signed by more than 1,600 people and has been submitted to West Lancs Council.

Now, with her colleagues at Burscough Action Group (BAG), she has started a new petition which aims to cover every house in Burscough, and show that it is not just people who live on the boundary of the proposed developments area that are against the plans.

Gill said: “We hope the petition will give us the statistics that we can present to the Borough Council to show the strength of local opinion against the developments.

“If any local residents would be willing to petition the people in the street or road where they live, we would love to hear from them. My email address is gill.bjork@talktalk.net”

The petition is also available to sign on line and can be accessed through the website www.fullstopltd. co.uk/BAG

The next BAG meeting is on Monday, March 19, at 7pm, at the Stanley Institute, Burscough. All are welcome.
