A YOUNG motorist has admitted causing the death of a Scarisbrick pensioner by careless driving.
Ryan Martin, 20, of Liverpool Road, Bickerstaffe, pleaded guilty to causing the death of Christine Favager by careless driving on July 11 last year.
Christine, 69, died instantly when her bicycle collided with a vehicle on Asmall Lane on the summer’s evening.
Christine was a well known member of the Ormskirk, Southport and Crosby Orchestras, as well as the Banks and Salvation Army Brass Bands.
Asmall Lane Business and Residents Group and the Advertiser joined forces to get the speed limit on Asmall Lane reduced from 60mph to 40mph after the incident.
Over 1,300 residents signed a petition in support of the campaign and Lancashire County Council later approved the proposal.
Martin, who appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, was further remanded on bail by Judge Mark Brown to await sentence on May 24.
