A SKELMERSDALE solicitors have helped out their local Scout group after helping them to rebuild their Scout hut.
Scott Rees & Co Solicitors, who are based at Centaur House, Gardiners Place, donated £250 to 1st Skelmersdale Scout group, following an appeal to local businesses for assistance.
The Barnes Road-based troop, which at 70 years old is the oldest of its kind in the town, were desperate for investment to improve their facilities and equipment.
Simon Shaw, a partner at the firm, presented members of the group with a cheque at a special fund-raising evening.
He said: “Scott Rees has a proud tradition of supporting community groups in Skelmersdale, and we’re very pleased to help the Scouts.
“The Scout group provides much valued recreational activities for local youngsters and we hope that the money will help contribute to the investment in facilities.”
Assistant Scout Leader Victoria McHugh said: “Usually when we approach people for donations, we would happily expect a bottle of wine to raffle off, but the funds from Scott Rees are really very generous and we are very grateful for their support.”
