Bickerstaffe Food Festival set to return this Saturday

A CELEBRATION of Lancashire produce is set to return as stall holders prepare for this year’s Bickerstaffe Food Festival.

The festival, which will be held on Saturday, October 6, at Moss House Farm, Ben Lane, will see around 45 stalls brimming with produce from around the county in what will be a real treat for the tastebuds.

Following the success of last year’s festival, this time around promises to be bigger and better.

The festival is a celebration of wonderful food with a family-friendly blend of all the ingredients that characterise the rural community of Bickerstaffe.

The venue for this year’s festival is home to farming family the Olversons.

Organisers say it will be an excellent opportunity to bring people along to a real farm and learn about where their food comes from – while bringing home the message that the food journey from farm to fork should be a quick one whenever possible.

Kim O’Brien, one of the organisers of the festival, said: “We are so excited for the festival, we have a smashing line-up of stall holders and the whole family can really enjoy this truly vibrant day.

“The farm promises to come alive both outdoors and indoors with such a variety of activities.”

On the day there will be plenty to do including cookery demonstrations, a food market, food to eat, a birds of prey display and outdoor survival skills camp.

There will also be stall-based food tastings, craft and cookery workshops for children who get free entry into the festival, competitions, BBQ and hog roast plus a background programme of local musicians performing throughout the event.

The range of products on sale will include bread, local organic fruit and veg and locally brewed beer.

There will be kitchen equipment, jams, chutneys, locally-reared meat, artisan food and drink producers, hand- made chocolates and homemade fudge along with a range of cupcakes, pies and more.

The food festival will be held at Moss House Farm, Ben Lane, Bickerstaffe, on Saturday, from 10am-4pm.

It is organised and delivered by the local community as a non-profit event.
