Ormskirk Rotary Club host Knitting Murder Night for Charity

Ormskirk Rotary Club charity night

Knitting and dogs were the order of the day at a recent Murder Mystery night held by The Rotary Club of Ormskirk –Clocktower. Given the success of their knitted Easter chicks project the club thought it was appropriate to choose the production “Get Knitted” when they approached local Ormskirk Theatre Company to put on their second Murder Mystery Night for them. The evening was planned to raise funds for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf so organisers Angela and Dave Redwood decided the event should have a knitting/dog theme.

Dog shaped tea cosies were on sale

On the evening people were encouraged to wear woolly garments with a prize being presented to the person with the best outfit. Ormskirk shop Scrumptious Cakes kindly donated a dog shaped cake for the raffle. Dog shaped tea cosies were on sale, as were cupcakes decorated to look like knitting wool with needles sticking out.

The event raised £500 for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. At a recent dinner meeting, Alison Chester from the Southport branch of Hearing Dogs for the Deaf gave an interesting and often humorous talk about her experiences in having a hearing dog. Her own dog Dodger accompanied Alison who was then presented with a cheque, the proceeds of the Murder Mystery Evening.
