A TEAM of air cadets represented West Lancashire in an international games tournament in France.
A party of 14 staff and cadets from 1026 (Ormskirk) RAF Air Cadets, took part in the Twin Town Games in Cergy, Pontois, France.
Also taking part were teams from Germany and France competing in various activities including archery, basketball, swimming and geo-caching around the area.
Flying Officer Jon Routledge said: “This was a very successful competition with the cadets representing both our country and the Air Cadet Corps in this exciting, action-packed weekend.
“I was extremely pleased with the commitment shown by the cadets who all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This is the second year 1026 (Ormskirk) Squadron have taken part and we are now looking forward to helping plan next year’s event, when we will be the host country.”
All of the cadets paid for their own travel but were provided with accommodation by the host country.
Meanwhile, the squadron’s Fl Lt Sue Routledge and CI Belinda Matchett recently took part in a media communications training day in Queensferry, where they were taught how to write a press release, set up photographs and how to better publicise their organisation.
The squadron is a uniform youth organisation for young people aged from 13-18.
They meet every Monday and Friday from 7-9.45pm at their Green Lane headquarters.
The next recruitment day will be held on Sunday, November 4, from 11am to 2pm at their headquarters.
Anyone eligible to join is welcome, but must bring a parent or guardian along to sign paperwork.
