Crawford schoolgirl raises money for Help for Heroes

Local schoolgirl, Lucy Farrelly, wanted to raise money for the Help for Heroes Charity for British Servicemen and Women.

Lucy, a Year 6 pupil at Crawford Village Primary School, approached staff at the local library in Upholland with her ideas.

They were so impressed by her enthusiasm, they assisted Lucy to organise her fundraising event in the library last Saturday morning.

Lucy, who learns to play her cornet at school, organised her friends Beth, Sam and Megan, all present and past pupils at Crawford, to accompany her on the day.

As well as the young people’s impressive music, the event included a poetry reading, a cake sale and raffle.

It was a resounding success and Lucy raised a magnificent £150 for her Charity.

All four children and of course Lucy’s Mum and Dad are brimming with pride.

Brass Teachers at Crawford School work hard to help the children achieve musically and one said, ‘Lucy is a talented and inventive little girl, we are extremely proud that our pupils care enough to organise this type of event in the community.’
