10AM UPDATE: Schoolboy arrested after allegedly stabbing classmate in head with a pencil

A SCHOOLBOY was arrested after allegedly stabbing his classmate in the head with a pencil.

Emergency services were called to St Michael’s CE high, in Crosby, at 2.30pm yesterday following the attack, which happened during the school day.

Paramedics attended the St Michael’s Road school, which has around 500 pupils, where they treated the injured teenager.

The student was then taken to Ormskirk Hospitalthough his injuries were said to be “not life-threatening”.

Police confirmed a 13-year-old boy from Bootle was arrested on suspicion on assault.

He was taken to a police station for questioning and has later released on bail.

A spokeswoman for the North West ambulance service confirmed they responded to reports of a stabbing at the school.

She said: “We received a call at 2.30pm and a 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the head with a pencil.”

The boy was treated in hospital for a small cut to the left side of his head.
