Norman the raccoon from Melling loves his daily walks on Ainsdale Beach

AN ENDANGERED North American native has been turning heads after making himself at home in our area.

Norman the raccoon lives with his owner Steve Mannion, 51, in Melling, and loves nothing more than his daily stroll along Ainsdale Beach.

Steve said: “He loves the attention and being fussed over.

“He is a real character! He is very intelligent and loves to play with pre-school toys, especially those with moving parts or buttons and noises.

“We try to keep Norman's diet as natural as possible. We give him lots of cod and prawns but his favourite foods, which we give as treats, are grapes and chestnuts.”
