A local church is inviting members of the community to learn the Christmas story – in a real life stable. The Church at the Centre is inviting people to gather at a stable on Vicarage Lane, Banks, where the nativity story will be acted out by members of the drama group from The Church at The Centre. The performance will take place on Sunday December 23rd at 5pm.
The actors are set to tell the story of the birth of Jesus with a number of modern twists - including an angel who raps the good news to the shepherds, camels that speak and even an episode of ‘Sheep’s Got Talent.’
People will be invited to sit around the performance area, refreshments will be served and there will also be an opportunity to join in with Christmas carols.
Rev Janice Hill from the Church at the Centre said: “The Christmas story in a stable has become something a local tradition, and we have done it for the last eight years. The local community love coming along and joining in with the carols. It is a fantastic way for children to learn the Christmas story in a fun way and it is also very popular with adults. The message, though somewhat re-created, is still the same – that Jesus is the light of the world. All are welcome to join us as we celebrate.”
