Burscough man seriously injured after tractors collide on Boxing Day

A MAN suffered serious injuries after two tractors collided on Boxing Day.

The incident happened on Course Lane, in Newburgh, at around 1.50pm.

A Ford tractor was towing a John Deere tractor which apparently hit the back of it and rolled over, ejecting the driver.

The 24-year-old from Burscough suffered serious pelvic injuries and is in a stable condition in Wigan hospital.

The driver of the Ford tractor was uninjured.

Sgt Dave Hogarth said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to come forward.

“The driver of the second tractor is in a serious condition in hospital and we have specially trained officers supporting them.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Samlesbury Road Policing Unit on 101.
