Stars from the world of showjumping on show at Aintree racecourse

STARS from the world of showjumping were on show at Aintree racecourse.

Olympic and European championship medallists were among the competitors at the British Showjumping Elite Show, including Ellen Whitaker. Lydiate jumper Jo McGlory also drew plenty of local support.

Held between Friday and yesterday, spectators were allowed into the event for free.

Police recover shotgun after car chase in Fazakerley

POLICE investigating reports of shots fired following a car chase in Fazakerley have recovered what they believe is a shotgun.   Officers conducting a search in light of the incident on Langford Avenue on Monday night found the weapon in nearby Waresley Crescent.   The weapon has been seized for forensic examination.   The investigation into the firearms discharge is ongoing.   Anyone with information that could the police investigation is asked to call the Matrix team on 0151 777 5699 number or leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.Read
