AN Ormskirk diver today told of his “excitement” at producing another series of the hit programme ‘Splash!’ with Olympic medallist Tom Daley.
Former international diver Carlos Ferra, 40, is head of the production company behind the show which has just been signed up for a second series.
His company La Quebrada High Diving Productions now plans to take the series worldwide.
Mexican-born Carlos said: “We are absolutely delighted that we can continue to produce the series.
“It’s been a great pleasure so far, particularly to work with Tom, and we want to take diving to as many people as possible.
“I’ve known Tom for a long time, so it was really pleasing that the show worked out so well and has been so popular.”
Carlos competed for Mexico at international diving events, before working as a judge, and then moving his production company to the UK six years ago.
There are now plans to take ‘splash ’Splash!’ to Australia, China, Holland and Germany.
Carlos said: “Around 30m people watched the show, so clearly there is a market for people interested in diving, so it’s looking very good for the future.
“I used to judge Tom at competitions, so to see him grow up and become such a fantastic role model for young divers is amazing.
“He’s absolutely fantastic to work with, and really makes the show, so we’re tremendously excited about the second series.”
Carlos now lives in Ormskirk with his wife where he has also founded a trampolining club called ‘momentum trampolining’.
The club will be awarded a Gymmark Plaque at 5.30pm on February 26, at St. Bede’s Ormskirk.
Carlos added: “Trampolining is the fundamentals of diving so hopefully we can bring diving to even more people.”
