AN elderly pedestrian who died after being knocked down in a tragic car park accident in Ormskirk has been named.
Edward Weston, from Ormskirk, was hit by a silver Skoda Octavia in the car park behind Wheatsheaf Walk at around 11.35am yesterday.
Lancashire police said the car had lost control “for unknown reasons” while pulling out of a parking space.
The 71-year-old was trapped between another vehicle and a wall and suffered significant chest injuries.
He was taken to hospital but passed away.
The Skoda driver stayed at the scene and no arrests have been made.
An investigation is now underway into what happened and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“Specialist family liaison officers are supporting Mr Weston’s family.”
