TRIBUTES have been paid to a Martin Mere volunteer who was tragically killed when crossing through a car park in Ormskirk.
Eddy Weston, 71 was hit by a silver Skoda Octavia in the car park behind Wheatsheaf Walk at around 11.35am last Thursday.
Police said the car had lost control “for unknown reasons” while pulling out of a parking space. No arrests have been made. Eddy is survived by his loving wife Pat and two sons, Andrew and David.
In a statement the family said they would like to express thanks and gratitude to all those who helped Eddy at the end and who have since offered sympathy and support.
Eddy was a member of the Ormskirk Street Pastors and enjoyed helping those on a night out. A memorial service was held by the Street Pastors and Father Boniface Moran on Friday March 1 at the site of the incident. An ecumenical funeral service will take place at St. Anne’s, with an additional memorial service at Emmanuel Methodist Church. Donations can be made to Hunter's Funeral Directors for North West Air Ambulance who attended the incident.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to contact them on 101.
