Plans for 40 new homes in Burscough revealed

PLANS to create a new housing estate in Burscough have been submitted to West Lancashire Borough Council.

Applicants Morris Homes and Taylor Wimpey want to build around 40 dwellings on land at Heathfields, off Delph Drive.

Permission to build a pub and shops on the site – to the south east of new homes built at the former Royal Ordnance Depot – had previously been granted, but the proposals fell through due to lack of demand for the planned units.

An application for a 50-bed care home was refused in April 2009.

The application reveals: “The proposed dwellings will all be two-storey and the development will reinforce the character of the surrounding area adjacent to the site with a rich and varied range of materials being taken from these sources.

“The houses will be traditionally designed to complement the design of the existing dwellings in the immediate vicinity.”

The site is designa- ted for employment use in the West Lancs Local Plan but if the plans are passed a mixture of two and three-bed semis and three and four-bed detached houses will be built on the site.
