Police appeal for information after a spate of crime
POLICE are appealing for information after a spate of crimes over the weekend.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who recognises the two men in the CCTV pictures opposite.
The men are believed to have entered the ‘R’ store, formerly Bargain Booze, on Liverpool Road, Burscough, on Friday evening.
They entered the store with another man and a woman and stole two bottles of wine.
Police are also appealing for help over separate thefts in which jewellery, laptops and watches were stolen from two addresses on Friday and Monday evening.
Thieves broke into houses in Aughton and Tarleton making off with valuable goods.
On Friday, between 7.30pm and 11pm, unknown culprits broke into a dormer bungalow on Mayo Drive in Tarleton.
They entered the address via the back garden and smashed a hole in the conservatory door before opening it with the key that was left in the lock.
They locked the owners’ dog in the lounge and ransacked the house, stealing jewellery and computer equipment before making off in the victims’ car after finding the keys during their search for items.
On Monday, between 7pm and 8pm, offenders broke into a house on Moss Delph Lane in Aughton.
The four-bedroomed house was surrounded by high hedges and had security fences, but this didn’t deter thieves.
They smashed the window of the back door and opened it using the key left in the lock.
After securing the owner’s dog in the living room, they searched the house and stole a watch and several items of jewellery. They then escaped undetected through the front door which they left unlocked.
It is not known if the two burglaries are linked.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or, alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
