MERSEYBEAT bands are reuniting to raise money for a cancer charity.
Rockin’ at the Y.P.C is taking place on November 9 at Ormskirk Civic Hall.
The event aims to reunite the teenagers of the 60s with the bands they used to love – who will play all their classic hits.
Event organiser Ian Gregson said: “It’s going to be a really great event and we’ve already sold hundreds of tickets for it.
“Keith Hubbard is celebrating his 50th year in showbusiness after battling prostate cancer and this event will be mostly focused on him.
“We’ve done a couple of these events but we’re hoping this will be the best yet and that we raise lots of money for Cancer Research UK.”
Bands who will be playing at the gig include Shooter, The Topspots, Pip Saffer and Ian & The Rebels.
Keith is the lead guitarist and vocalist of Shooter and has been battling prostate cancer since he was diagnosed in 2004. He has undergone some pioneering treatment and is currently doing well.
Ian, of Ian & The Rebels, said: “Any money we raise we give to charity. We do raffles throughout the night as well and end up raising over £500 at each event.
“We don’t get anything out of it financially, we just do it because we love it and want to do anything we can to support Keith.”
Tickets are £8 and can be bought from Taylor’s Newsagents on Moor Street, in Ormskirk, or for £10 on the door.
