Hesketh Bank motorcross boy wows at ECHO arena
YOUNG motocross rider Finley 'Rossi' Beard will star at the Liverpool ECHO Arena in February.
The 11-year-old youngster, from Hesketh Bank, started cycling at the age of three and racing at the age of five.
He quickly picked up the nickname Rossi after the world champion motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi.
Despite his young age, Rossi has achieved more than most in his 11 years – this year alone Rossi has competed in the Red Bull Elite Youth Nationals and the British Youth Nationals.
He was the Newton-le- Willows MXC Auto Champion in 2009, followed by winning the ACU Northwest Champ- ionship and Auto Dominator Championship in 2010.
In 2012 he was chosen to join the Red Bull Youth Academy and continues to be trained by three-times world champion David Thorpe, MX2 champions Elliott Banks- Brown and Jake Nicholls, and Danny Tollet from National Champion Motocross Aca- demy.
Proud dad, Anthony said: “He is a nervous child but, when the nerves drop, he is unbelievable to watch. We are all so proud of him”.
Schoolboy Rossi said: “My best achievement was last years Arenacross UK where I won all four rounds to get the 2013 title.
“I want to be an MX1 World Champion, I can’t wait to race, I love competing and my confidence is growing each time.
“My motocross-mad dad is definitely my biggest fan”.
Following the promotion at Liverpool ECHO Arena last week, Rossi had his first accident on Wednesday whilst training in Doncaster.
The layout of the track caused Rossi to be thrown from his bike, with the bike landing on top of him, injuring his back and breaking his thumb.
However, Rossi is not phased by the ordeal and cannot wait to get back on his bike.
His parents are devastated that he will be missing his upcoming rounds in Belfast but said he will make a strong comeback in the last four rounds in the Liverpool ECHO Arena in February.
He continues to be spurred on by friends and family.
