POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man is believed to have been injured by a vehicle that failed to stop in Burscough in the early hours of Sunday, December 22.
The incident took place sometime around 2am when a lone 29-y ear-old man was walking home after a night out at the Briars Hall Hotel, along Course Lane in the direction of the M6 motorway. At some point during his journey, he was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop.
The man was taken to Chorley hospital by a middle-aged couple in their silver Vauxhall Zafira after they found him on Course Lane. The couple did not leave their details and police are keen to trace them.
Sergeant Finn Quainton, from the Force Road Policing Unit, said: “We have been unable to identify the exact location where the collision took place but I am appealing to anyone who might have seen the collision, or a vehicle leaving the scene.
“Fortunately, the man’s injuries were not deemed to be serious and consist of severe whiplash.
“However, it is important we establish the full circumstances of what happened.
“Anyone with any information about this collision should contact Lancashire Police on 101, quoting log reference LC-20131222-0195.”
