180 enjoy Royal Ascot Ladies Day lunch at Kingswood College

NEARLY 200 guests attended a Royal Ascot Ladies Day lunch at Kingswood College last week.

Horse drawn carriages and vintage cars were on hand to whisk guests, including mums of pupils and friends of the school, up the driveway for the celebratory dinner.

Guests donned posh frocks and hats for an afternoon of champagne and canapes, food, dancing, music and fashion organised by school principal, Eric Borowski.

The afternoon feature events, including May Pole dancing and hand bell ringing by some of the youngest children at the school, as well as a Beatles tribute band.

Year 2 pupils performed excerpts from the Lion King and former pupil Scott Chapman sang a number of songs in his crooner style.

There was music from the film Grease, a dance act and some Year 11 girls doing their take on Girls Aloud.

Older girls at the school also played their part, modelling a selection of clothes from Tatters of Longton and Mark Cain, before guests placed small bets on some of the races from Ascot, watching them live on screens set up in the marquee.

One of the parents even donated his helicopter for the day, with two people from each table winning the chance to have a ride in it.

Guest Bev Fisher said: “Everyone was very excited about the helicopter ride, although I must admit I was secretly hoping I didn’t win it!

“But it was a lovely day and so well attended.

“From the horse drawn carraiges and cars at the start to all the entertainment, it really was an excellent day.”
