Teenager looking for mum after finding dad on Facebook after 18 years

A 19-YEAR-OLD woman who found her dad on Facebook after 18 years has now launched a search for her biological mother who gave her up when she was 18 months old.

Sophie Featherstone was adopted by her maternal grandmother Pat Featherstone.

But after her nan passed away from cancer last February, Sophie decided she needed answers and is now trying to locate her mum who is called Debbie and believed to be living in Skelmersdale.

Sophie said: “My mum couldn’t look after me so my nan adopted me. I called her ‘mum’.

“I only met my dad for the first time last year after my nan died. After she died I was staying with friends and sleeping on sofas.

“My dad’s girlfriend, Sarah Prescott, contacted me on Facebook and we were messaging each other for a while. She got in contact with me to surprise my dad. Then I agreed to meet him, I went round to their house with a friend and we started talking.”

Sophie’s dad Paul Bridge, 37, never knew that Sophie was his daughter.

“At the time I was young and I was told that Sophie wasn’t my daughter and that was that. I had tried looking for her about two years ago. I told my girlfriend that I wanted to meet her to see if she looked like me.

“When she turned up on the doorstep it was a bit strange but I’m so grateful to meet her after all these years.
