Teenager finds dad on Facebook after 18 years and is searching for mum believed to be living in Skelmersdale
“Now she is living with me and her stepmother and half brother and sisters, she’s part of the family.”
Paul, a joiner, added that when Sophie said she was going to look for her mum he was 100% behind her.
“I support her completely. She has a lot of questions to ask her and I think it will be good for her. She can start to get her life back together and go back to college.”
Sophie was brought up by her nan in Southport and went to Stanley High School before studying art and design at Southport College.
After her nan died, Sophie was signed off from college with depression.
She said: “I really loved my nan.She had breast cancer and it was just awful.
“I met my mum a couple of times when I was growing up for no more than a couple of hours. I also know that she has six other children. I met two of them – I want to know that they’re okay too.
“I spoke to my mum briefly on the phone when nan died, but I have no contact details for her, only her name, Debbie.
“I don’t blame her for anything, I would just like to talk to her now that I’m old enough.”
