AN air cadet from Skelmersdale will be on Cloud Nine when she enjoys a Royal appointment with Prince Philip.
Jane Carey, from 1439 (Skelmersdale) Squadron Air Training Corps, will join young achievers from across the UK in the prestigious setting of St James’s Palace after achieving her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. She will travel to London to receive her certificate from the DofE’s Patron and Founder – HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.
Jamie Ford, 1439 ( Skelmersdale) Air Cadets media and marketing officer, said: “The Gold Award Presentation is a celebration and recognition of Jane's achievements in completing her Gold DofE programme. The GAP is a unique event and a fitting culmination to mark the hard work, determination and perseverance required.
“Jane worked tirelessly through the five sections of her DofE programme over a number of months to achieve her Gold Award.
“Her diverse activities included expeditions, public service and other cadet activities. Throughout her DofE, Jane was able to prove herself to be a great team member, leader, decision maker and compassionate person.”
